Justice vs. Fairness

March 10, 2019

Justice is carrying out wise judgments based on the laws and character of God.

Justice in the Bible is to be right in a moral and legal sense. It is significant that Scripture uses this same Hebrew word for righteousness.  Righteousness is the perfection of the character of the Lord Jesus Christ. His righteousness becomes ours when we receive Him as our own Redeemer. Jesus fulfilled the just demands of the Law by substituting His sinless life for our sins through His death on the cross.

Someone has said that, "Justice is the activity of God's holiness."  And Oswald Chambers wrote, "Justice means rightness with God; nothing is just until it is adjusted to God."

He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8

Tolerance vs. Condemnation

March 3, 2019

Tolerance is making allowances for those who lack wisdom or maturity and praying that they will see and follow God’s ways.

Tolerance presupposes a standard of conduct by which all other behavior is measured.

We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.   2 Corinthians 10:12

Generosity vs. Stinginess

February 24, 2019

Generosity is demonstrating the nature of God by wisely reinvesting the resources that He has entrusted to us.

Generosity follows the laws of the harvest.  The more we sow, the more we reap.

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.   2 Corinthians 9:6
